Ministry of Commerce: China has fulfilled commitments of cutting tariffs it made to join WTO
Dec. 15, the Ministry of Commerce says that the Chinese government will further lower import tariffs on six commodities, including fresh strawberries beginning Jan. 1, 2010. The move was made to honor China's commitment it made of cutting tariffs to join the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001. It gives neither the names of the other five commodities, nor tariff rates on the six commodities. The general tariff level will be left unchanged, at 9.8%, next year.
